Your Touch Poem by Diana van den Berg

Your Touch

Your touch is
the caress
of secret rays of dawn light
pouring into the
quiet of a forest
and awakening it
with unparalleled joy;

Your touch is
Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata
on my skin
quivering my heart
and tingling a million nerve-endings
that I didn’t know I had,
with the ecstasy
of each note;

Your touch is a wild, wild wind
sending passionate trees
into a dancing frenzy;

Your touch is a fire
that rages and blazes
higher and higher
and higher and higher;

When you touch me
life is too little
and too much
and we die
and fly
in wild delight
to celestial fields
that are reverberating
with hosts of angel voices
singing the Halleluiah chorus.
