Yours Is Not The Power

YOURS IS NOT THE POWER
5 June 2014

Strangulating grip
around my throat,
in name of love
you stab and gloat.

The bullying, orders,
the all-about-you,
the manipulation, lies,
so cruel too,

the beck and call
the jump through hoops,
as lower and lower,
your spirit stoops.

I changed your image
from dark to light
and brought you from
hated to being liked

and in return
you kept punishing me
schizophrenic
man, you be

when I dared
to disobey
your slyly veiled
rules of the day.

Your domination
is not for me.
You cannot kill
my spirit free.

You cannot kill my spirit free. Breath-holding read, but the ending verse was a yes! Yes! YES! Truly great write love the emotion weaved throughout each line. JL
