Your Jabez Can Still Be Loved Poem by Ola Joseph Kolawole

Your Jabez Can Still Be Loved

YOUR JABEZ CAN STILL BE LOVED …

Show me a man that is unloveable
And I will show you a man void of glory in every sense –
A man who has misplaced his crown;
Perhaps mistaking it for his sandals

His identity is JABEZ;
His quality is SORROW;
His personality suffers APATHY –
But his infirmity can drive him to his knees:

Then he looks up and says:
“Oh that You will bless me…
“Oh that You will enlarge my coast…
“Oh that Your hand will be upon me…
“Oh that I may not cause pain…

Then suddenly,

The windows of his soul flings open
And the floodgates of his skies do the same –
Here comes a heavy downpour
Heavier than the former put together

He stays still in this latter precipitation
He is wet, yes, he is soaked
Then he goes to bed like that
And he sleeps like a babe

Now the beaming sun welcomes him to Daylight
And he could see in the skies a Daystar
Then his face is lightened with a smile
And laughter becomes the music of his soul…

Who says Jabez can’t be loved?
The latter glory makes the difference!
And when next you feel no Love for a neighbour;
You had better check yourself – You have a problem.

Show me a man that you love liquidly
And I will show You a man with visible Glory.
Selah!
