Beloved Poem by Ola Joseph Kolawole

Beloved

Rating: 4.5

My heart is astir with gracious a panegyric
Readily inditing a lovely poem
Encomiums overwhelm my heart –
But sincere praise with no flattery

Words meet words in my heart
The latter melting upon the former
Hastening through my blood veins
To my tender loving hand
Flowing by conduction to my golden pen –
Now dancing with ecstasy on my scroll…

I’ve got words to say in writing
About a friend I adore
– and about her –
She’s more than a darling...

How tender are those arms of yours
Which I have felt around my shoulders
At times to encourage
And many other times to reprove.

Your ever smiling face...
Has boosted my self – esteem many times
And much more many other times
It has lightened my countenance.

Smile again, dearie
That I can behold that wondrous flash
That emanates from those glittering enamels
That I may smile as well.

Come to the “kitchen” of my jewel
And watch her do her thing...
Or better still, join us at the dinning
For she delights in feeding her people

Samson slept on the knees of Delilah
And woke up powerless
But I slept on the knees of my love
And I woke up refreshed.

Say to that man:
“Blest are thine eyes for spotting this treasure”
And say to the family of that man:
“A delicate treasure has been committed to thine hands”

Thou epitome of Wisdom
Thou paragon of Virtues
Thou Charity personified
Thou fountain of outrageous love...

You are indeed my beloved.
