Your Heart Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Your Heart

You can say I love you
when it isn't there
You can say you need me
which can fade like air
I don't believe you love me
No matter how much it's declared
I just want to tell you
while I have you here

You can't be the friend to whom I could depend
traces of that person is left in the past
You can't be there it's no way you can pretend
or move the clouds of the shadows that was cast

I wanted every part of you that you could give
and the one thing you couldn't is your heart

the heart may want what it wants
but may not get what it needs
and it's not fair
but nothing in life is
I know of your intentions, yeah
and that your heart seem pure
but it's tricky with promises
because the heart needs to be assured
