Your Eyes Are Watching Me Poem by Alicia Gail Lightsey

Your Eyes Are Watching Me

I was walking the narrow road one day
When I stopped to smell the flowers along the way
I fell asleep from the aroma and I slept for so long
I awoke one day and realized that sleeping was wrong
I started to run but I could not see
The darkness had deceived and blinded me
I tried to find my way back to the path again
But the road was dark and I couldn't see to begin
I cried many tears, I hoped and I prayed
I know what happened and the reason I strayed
Father, forgive me for what I have done
Thank you for answering my call, Oh Holy One
I have a vision now of how my life should be
Thank you for opening my eyes so I can see
I am stronger inside and growing day by day
Yesterday, not today is when I lost my way
I won't look back and lose my vision
I pray to make right choices and decisions
I want to move on to be all I can be
I want to live my life serving Thee
As I travel through the world my Spirit is free
Because I know Your Eyes Are Watching Me

Excellent. It reminds me another poem by T.S.Eliot. Who is the third beside me. (If memory doesn't betray, the caption I have written is the same.) .....I enjoyed the writing. Run long......live long.....
