You Made Me A Fool Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

You Made Me A Fool

A man seduces a virgin and slept with her,
And she was pregnant and gave birth to a boy;
But, a thief must be sold for his theft when caught.

I was alone and, you came and seduced me!
And the night of my privacy was stolen by you;
So, where is my modesty today?

The muse of life and the muse of our respective works on this earth,
Like an empty belly to the flesh;
But, you never shared the bread of heaven with me.

The muse of nature and the muse of our acts on this earth,
You made me a fool twice as much!
As you took my virginity away.
