You Can Burn My Letters Poem by Katelin Taylor

You Can Burn My Letters

Rating: 2.5

Don't use my words against me.
Who do you think you are?
Just because you were my friend
You think you're above par?

Don't use my words against me.
Yes, they were for you.
But now they don't mean anything
Only that we're through.

Don't use my words against me.
You hold the ones I rue.
And now I burn your letters
Because I can't burn you.

Don't ask me to remember
The words I wrote for you.
You were my friend and now you're not
It's simple - I am through!

Don't use my words against me.
At one time they were true.
And you can burn my letters,
Because I can't burn you.

For 'once upon a time' is gone
And I am done with you.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I had a friend for whom I wrote a poem and he tried to use it against me when we were no longer friends. This was my revenge.
