You Came Up Poem by Mr. Cheese

You Came Up

The past seems like nothing
Merely a blink of the eye away
So fast from barely over my shoulder
To right next to me, face to face

Has time really went by that fast?
Years that feel like they all happened yesterday
From a baby and the brother I was a role model to
To mature and the mold of a man in the making

From protecting you with my life
To watching you be able to do it yourself
No longer needing my strength
Because you've grown to have your own

On the inside and out
Depending on yourself
My lectures and speeches
At any amount no longer necessary

Sometimes it seems almost crazy
Facing the facts
That your not just my young brother anymore
But a young man
