Yes We Can Poem by Jason Ehret

Yes We Can

The promise was in the air election night- - - the first black president and the refrain of

Yes We Can

The promise of a better economy
We worked for twenty dollars an
hour will you work for ten

Yes We Can

The promise of a free and open govenment
The NSa FBi and CIa
Free and open government is what the elite tell
us it is
Ask Assange Brietbart and Barrett
Will you grin and bare it

Yes We Can

Makes no difference if the politician is black
white red or yellow the only color that has ever
mattered is green
Can we vote for more politicians like them

Yes We Can

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my poem let alone posting a comment. My first published poem. Never expected it to be read let alone any positive feedback. Thank you

Green is all that matters. Approval rates show that we are unhappy (at best) with our representatives, yet we keep putting them in office. Yes we do. An excellent commentary, Jason. Thanks

Thank you for your comment, and welcome your opinion. I have a degree in political science have studied political systems, and politicians. I even worked on political campaigns. President Obama has his plus and minus like any other politician. If not for Obama Care my sister who suffered from cancer might not have been able to get affordable health insurance, when she was unable to work. After working on political campaigns and watching the promises broken, I have become very cynical about the process, which isn't all bad, I have never read a satirist that wasn't a cynic.8 years of false publicity, history will judge the Obama years. On the bright side Donald Trump creates his bad publicity don't need the press or the opposition party to do that. Thank you, Sandra for taking the time to read and post a comment.
