Yellow River Mother Poem by Fengchang Gao

Yellow River Mother

Yellow River mother

I'm coming.

Your child came to see you

Yellow River mother

You use thick milk

Feeding our children

You gave us a common name called the Chinese nation

Yellow River mother

You and we have created a beautiful home together

You gave our home a lovely name called China

Yellow River mother

Your love is ten thousand miles long

From the snowy plateau to the fertile plain to the vast sea

Because these places have your children

You love us too much

You have to take care of us and grow up with us

Yellow River mother

Your love goes five thousand years

From the three emperors and five emperors to the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, and then to today's new era

Because we can't live without your earnest instruction at any time

Only by remembering our own history

To walk out of our own future

Yellow River mother

Are you old

The singing of the waves and the green grass and trees on both sides tell me

You are still in your prime

Yellow River mother

Did you cry

Are you proud of our success today

Or thinking about a wandering child

Yellow River mother

No matter how far the child goes

Even if I'm alone

Just see your figure

Suddenly there is the warmth of home

Yellow River mother

Let me go naked again

Run to your warm embrace

Play coquettish in your arms

Yellow River mother

Yellow River mother

Yellow River mother
