Writers Block-Love Letter Poem by Jessi Odom

Writers Block-Love Letter

I stayed up late, half past twelve
I had to tell you how I felt.

The thoughts all lingered in my head
As I lay thinking in my bed.

The words were there, but not to be found
They spoke to me, yet made no sound.

I sat silent in my room
Thinking of your eyes last afternoon.

I had to put these thoughts into words
But would you be happy with what you heard?

The pen touched the paper and sketched out an 'I'
Looped forward, then backwards and there was a 'Hi'.

My thoughts all lingered but wouldn't be said
The words were alive but my pen seemed dead.

So I folded the paper with the two lettered word
I know you might find it a little absurd.

But I hope you will see what I'm trying to say- I love you now, forever and today.
