Wrecked Poem by Jacqueline Palacio

Wrecked

Today, it wasn't a good start to endure
I count it over as a wrecked failure
I aspire to turn on those waterfalls of dark shadows
and let them surround me
and feel myself drown on thick tears
uncompleted conclusions full of lies that I tell
the tide breaking as hard as cruel thoughts with no end
because for the age of this earth I can't see who I am
your words full of worth but I can't listen to them
meanwhile my words go through the drain
like a drop of rain in the river
going down the bridge of a lover
it's like a rose making a stand
in front of its thorns and your splinters
and fine liquor dripping from its leaves
to drink out of them sobrer
my winter in white for your arrival
and my tears as ice for your departure
it's artic for me to be inside your doors
so I stay behind it to fight this behavior
I stop the twist of my key
and your knife into my core.
