Worst Mistake Poem by KMC Centlivre

Worst Mistake

I made the worst mistake of my life
I ignored all the warnin’ signs
I made a hard left when I shoulda turned right
And made the worst mistake of my life

Everyone said I was an unlucky guy
Rarely would anything ever go right
Until you came along, such a beautiful sight
I’d only admire from a distance

I got up the nerve to go talkin’ to you
And I never thought you’d do the thing that you’d do
I got some more nerve and I offered to you
My heart and my soul and a dance

What happened then was magic they say
We got on the floor and I swept you away
I was like Fred Astaire in a marvelous way
In a wonderful circumstance

And when the night ended I bid you adieu
It was more than I expected just talkin’ to you
I asked “could I see you? ” you said “don’t mind if you do”
I shuddered that you gave me the chance

Followin’ you home I saw the blinking red lights
The man said “son, you been drinkin’ tonight? ”
I stood and watched you as you drove outta sight
While he put shackles on both of my hands

I made the worst mistake of my life
I ignored all the warnin' signs
I made a hard left when I shoulda turned right
and made the worst mistake of my life

I made the worst mistake
I made the first mistake
I made the worst mistake of my life
