World War 2 Poem by Cassie Picariello

World War 2

Can't this, can't that!
What can we do?
Fright and fire everywhere,
Wars, suffering.
How can they do this?
No rights and freedom,
Only rules.
Family is all we have now,
But love and warmth is scarce.
Are we really criminals?
What have we truly done?

Bright lights, horrible smells.
Overcrowding.
We're put to work like slaves.
I wish you were here now.
We wish you were here now.
We miss the love and happiness you brought...
Joyful were those days.

hello, i am doing a project on ww2 poems and i read your poem and i thought it was fantastic! However it would be helpful to know some information about the author e.g. what inspired you? how old were you when you wrote it? why did you write it? etc. Almost like a small factfile. This would be a great help! thank you for your time :)
