Words Unspoken Poem by Lana May Hamlin

Words Unspoken

I met him at a football game
Since that night my life hasn’t been the same
I spend my time thinking about the guy with curly hair
All the while wishing her was there
He made me so happy that one night Everything was so perfect, so right
He held me in his arms so smug
I will always cherish that sweet hug
A simple gesture that meant nothing but everything
An unspoken promise to put a stop to all my grieving
Not realizing it would change it all
Our friendship would grow so brittle and fall
Because he has someone else in his life
Acting like she has total control of him, like she’s his wife
He should stand up to her and tell her what he’s really feeling
Instead of smiling and being deceiving
By now he should know that it’s hurting all of us from the inside out
Lying more times than we can count
Something has to happen because my heart keeps breaking
Even thought I’m smiling you should know I’m faking
I guess I blame Cupid for being so cruel
I love him but I’m a fool
For falling in love for someone who’s in love with another
“We” wont happen so why should I even bother?
