His Decision Poem by Lana May Hamlin

His Decision

He sits alone, hiding his face
He thinks about her and his heart begins to race
Only now can he finally see
That life without her is something he could never be
A slow, but silent tear creeps down his cheek
It hasn’t even been a week
He looks up to her walk by
He thinks she has moved on to another guy
She slows down her some grace
As she lovingly looks down at his tearstained face
Her emotions inside she has to cover
For he in not hers any longer
She wants to comfort him, but that’s out of the question
She reminds herself that this was his painful decision
She opens her mouth to talk
But instead she decides to walk
He jumps to his feet and calls out her name
She spins around knowing that nothing would ever be the same
She looks at him with a tear in her eye
He wipes it away, silently willing her not to cry
He starts to tell her how much he misses her
Her emotions inside begin to stir
Thinking about what they’ve been through
They remember why their love can’t be true
So they convince themselves not to bother anymore
Their hearts are just too sore
He leaves her standing there
Thinking she would never angina care
Too stubborn and prideful to ask her what she’s feeling
Even though he knows she would be revealing
This is what happens when a love is left unspoken-
A friendship is broken
