Words Poem by Yvonne Rautenbach

Words

Some things are said without saying
But sadly a few never said
A word which is painful in coming
Can get lost in the thoughts of your head.
Just when the need is the greatest
And all of your feelings so deep
A wave rushes over and drowns them
They wander like ghosts in your sleep.
Somehow the sands of our lifetimes
Can mount as a towering dyke
and all we can hear though the render
Is muttering into the night
Will you speak clear in daylight and tell me
Can I get over this wall?
Are you catching my words as I aim them
Or are you not listening at all?
