Woman Poem by Alejandro Torres

Woman

There’s no falsehood
In her unrelenting beauty
Never a night sky more clear
Than her eyes
Never a bird’s song more beautiful
Than her voice
Or an angel choir loud enough
To drown out the beat of my heart

She’s a cosmic investment
I cant warn the stars about
A mortal Zeus
With Aphrodite’s gifts
A seductress in the flesh
From head to toe
She’ll build you up
And help your soul collapse

She feeds my hunger
With chemical kisses
Lethal sin
She’s a human tonic
And when she least expects it
I’ll give her Hell’s fire
For all her trouble

It’ll be sweet
Exquisite and slow
Like the hard drinks that flow
Down our throats
Like ripe stalks
Swaying in the wind
Waiting for the right moment
To harvest

It’ll be our game
On a make shift dance floor
She has an air of sex
And a look of lust
That would cloud
Even the wisest man’s judgment
And I can imagine how I’d look
Like a wolf
In the old cartoons

And that’s alright with me
Because the feeling she generates
feels like a primal beast
Caged in my chest

So when I see that Portuguese delicacy
I’ll sync my lips to hers
And feed her fire
