Woe… Poem by Jisy Matthew

Woe…

A tiny speck,
in this world so wide
A puny being,
flowing with the tide
O what dense forests,
encircle my path
O what thorns and thickets,
around me I hath
The thorns skin
my body so frail
Thickets leave
behind, a blood trail
The hurt scars
my heart so sore
The pain roars
and induces more
O why did I ever
choose this direction
Why did I savour
fruits of temptation?
Revelation dawning,
a bit too late
Salvation seeming,
not part of my fate
Seek me lord,
encumbered in this mire
Raise me and accord,
all to your desire
Plead I do,
of Your divine intervention
Hope I do,
everlasting redemption
Your presence suffices
to overcome all
Redeem my crisis,
lift the evil pall
Till I have light
brightened by your face
Never to lose sight
of your love and grace.
