Without You Poem by Gauri Gupta

Without You

I sometimes wonder
What life would be like
Without your presence…
Would I be happy
Or rather, happier?
Would I be smiling
Or laughing my heart out?
Would I be cold
Or love without fear?
Would I hum a tune
Or sing the words out loud?
Would I be calm
Or go dance in the rain?
Would I be alone
Yet take no loneliness to grave?

I sometimes wonder
What life would be like
Without your shadow haunting me…
Would I cow down
Or dare to dream wild?
Would I cry a criver
Yet cry so much less?
Would I hate the world
Or learn to appreciate?
Would I be angry
Or cheerful and gay?
Would I think twice
Or be free with my mind?
Would I miss your love
Or start loving myself?

I sometimes wonder
What life wuold be like
Without the inivisible chains
That still keep me bonded
Without the iron shackles
Digging into my heart
Without the layer of ice
On my skin so warm
Without the passionate rage
That keeps me going
Without the taste of freedom
Of an eagle caged so long
Without the illusion of a love
Eternal, lost and forlorn
