My Love, Tainted Poem by Gauri Gupta

My Love, Tainted

Rating: 5.0

Memories flash, before my eye
As I look back, at times gone by
The trees once green, now stand charred
The paths worn down, remain untread

The music and dancing, give way to silence
As the moonlit sky, is engulfed in darkness
The endless chatter of words unspoken
The passion and fire, gentled to oblivion

The wind carries with it, threads of the past
Arousing the still, to rise from its slumber
Only to be met, with a resistance newfound
As the love and innocence, in chains is bound

Fear overcasts, each emotion afresh
And doubt and suspicion, nestles itself
Firmly and deeper, than ever before
Stubbornly rooted, at my heart’s core

The laughter is smeared, with an unheard sigh
A stony cold, replaces the tear in my eye
The excitement of life is now filled with numbness
And care for another, lost in bitterness

The smiles, fake and compassion feigned
My love is blackened with hatred and pain
What once was chaste, no longer remains
My love is lost, tainted and stained

Unblemished actually. Matter of perspective. And time does strange things with the past. Move on and live in the present. even if. Cheers. Subroto
