Wishes Poem by Aanuoluwa Adebanjo

Wishes

Wishes come and go like a waving sea
They seem to last for eternity but never lasted a whole day
They sweep you off your feet
Carrying you to a new world
But within the twinkling of an eye
They vanish like the stars when the dawn breaks
Wishes are mere thoughts
Which most times we want to be real
Sometimes they come true but most times they do not
They simply light up our spirits for the moments they lasted
But soon leave us to face the reality before us
Indeed wishes are thoughts that are known to come true mostly in fairy-tales
