Wish I Wasn't Poem by Cherie Mort

Wish I Wasn't

I wish I wasn't me
I wish I wasn't born female
I wish I wasn't the type of person my mother can't stand
I wish I wasn't so afraid to remove my façade and show her the truth behind the mask

I wish I had bravery
I wish I knew how to be the type of fool who is willing to do the right thing, no matter the price
I wish I could just shrug off the things that hurt
I wish I wouldn't let my fear of failure get the best of me

I wish I could let everyone know who and what I am, and let my colors blaze brightly behind me
But I also know that when it comes to who I am
She would wish I wasn't
