Winter Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Winter

Winter comes with snow and ice with chilling winds
Frozen lakes, roads impassable, snowploughs clearing,
Children making snowmen and throwing snowballs
Sledging down slopes laughing happily as they go.
Shovelling to clear driveways, car batteries flat
Woolly hats, scarfs and gloves with warm underwear
Trudging wearily through inches of crunching snow.
Glittering snowflakes falling to sparkle the landscape
With trees sagging under weight of snow and ice
Dark gloomy cloudy skies threatening more snow.
Cosy fires indoors with family warming themselves
Celebrating Christmas day with bountiful festive feast.
Cards, presents, joyous treats for beloved ones
Making rich precious memories never to be forgot.
