Windshield Poem by Brandon Nothing

Windshield

Very frustrating, to forgive you
Down are the bridges, but broken
They can’t be fixed or move on out
I once built a man out of snow
He told me something you should know
Just before he melted away
I hesitated without delay
Happiness is just another cut away
But what if you don’t live to see that day?
The chills are bitter, fall onto embers of the year
In this puddle I found a single tear
Embraced by the coldness of winter and man
The frost leapt so cold across my skin that day
The windshield was all around me
A carrot, two buttons and a plan
I once built a man made of snow
From there on out I didn’t know where to go
I turned to you, but you turned away
So I waited in the blizzard despite all hope
Lacerate the chains of every sigh and grope
But I remained, dwindling in the snow
The blizzard swept across the plain
I could do anything, I only could gain
The moon set past the view, I couldn’t turn to watch it set
Now I finally have some time to rest
The purple sky makes me feel so tired
Finally revealed of this burden, this pest
Still waiting for the one I admired
I once built a man out of snow
He told me something you should know
Just before he melted away
I hesitated without delay
Happiness is just another cut away
