Will You Love Me When I Am Gone, Like An Old But Loving Song? Poem by Lajpat Chawla

Will You Love Me When I Am Gone, Like An Old But Loving Song?

Rating: 4.0

Will you love me when I am gone, like an old but loving song?
Will you write he was so good, he never did anything wrong.
When I am in earth below, pounds of flesh and bone below,
Like a mass left redundant, like a freezing stone, below,
Lost in a place of six by three, with no one in my tomb below.
Will you visit on a snowy night and speak to me for long,
Will you love me when I am gone, like an old but loving song?
Will you write he was so good, he never did anything wrong.

Of course, my king, I will love you as much as I loved before,
My love is not like waves of ocean, it is so stable as the shore.
Written with blood your epitaph will say “ ma king, I adore”
In box of heart your memories stay, which has a lock so strong
Will you love me when I am gone, like an old but loving song?

Will you write he was so good, he never did anything wrong.
Look for me, when it gets dark, when no one is in the park,
A bird shall sing the rainbow song weeping for the arc,
I will be with you then for a while; your eyes will get the spark.
There would be time but a few seconds, hurry up don’t prolong.
Will you love me when I am gone, like an old but loving song?
Will you write he was so good, he never did anything wrong.

A good read. In theme, content and tone resembles a poem written by Karim Chaudhury on Rejected Stuff. A suggestion: the beloved's assurance should be recorded in a different poem.so that the intensity of the longing to be remembered eternally can be more evocative.

The memory of having been, is not as important as a mental recall, but as in living to honor the memory through actions inspired by the departed. I loved my parents and they are long departed so my recall of their faces and embraces are faded but I live the life of a good man, as they taught me through their lives, in honor of them. Passing that to my children ensures that my parents' legacy will live on through that generation. Peace
