Will The Cat Steal Your Tongue Poem by Andrus Cassian

Will The Cat Steal Your Tongue

Call 911…I’m sorry to interrupt, I’m sorry to disturb you
I just seem to be lost…lost in the grip of your love, lost in your loving creamy eyes
Every day, every day you stick your neck out to save me, see me happy
And the only thing I do in return is try my best to keep a smile upon your luring lips
You are, you are my beautiful sapphire
Shining brightly even on this depressing, rainy day
The words in the dictionary are too heavy weighted
To even begin to explain the precious star, you
You can call me crazy as many times as you like
My response will always be creative
But I’m sure we both know I’m only another guy tripping over my own heels
In your presence, in your comfortable embrace
Receiving gifts, I know you’re not used to
I, myself, am not used to having someone to give a gift to until I met you
So please, will you allow me to give this gift to you:
A rose to remind you of your elegance
A box of chocolate to let you know how sweet you are
A carefully constructed heart to prove you’re loved
An orchestrated song to share a magical moment with you
And me, just to sing the words back to you
Thursday, Valentine’s Day
If Thursday’s what it takes to prove, guess I have nothing left to lose
The richest guy I know I’m not; I only have ten dollars to my name
Looks aren’t my strongest point despite constant compliments
And I’m more stubborn than a sick elderly man
But still I look myself in the mirror, proud and brave to be myself
Telling myself I’m worthy to be with you
Will you look me in the eyes and say the same
Or will the cat steal your tongue this time
Just the same; it’s easier to kiss you when your lips are sealed in surprise
