Wild Dreams Poem by Midifo Yearns

Wild Dreams

Often wondered what it would be like
To shout and scream, run naked down the street
Doing cartwheels and summersaults, in wild abandon
Smiling at the most curious and disdainful faces
Crawling under fences, climbing tallest trees
What a fool I’ve been, imprisoned in my pride
Affected by the glances of solemn chancers
Allowing fear to block and discipline my dreams

What a fool I am perhaps to think this way
When clear it is that passion must be held at bay
And yet, the dancing feet of heart, the tears of sad
Refrain still remain, and seek to find a pathway
Through the rugged bush, that often hides from sight
The plight of fright, or simple taste of sweet delight.
Run I must, jump I will; and there in meadow green
Will stand alone, in pouring rain, naked, though unseen.
