Widow Brain Poem by Mary Daly

Widow Brain

Do you, like me, ever have widow brain?
You don't know what to do in the rain?
You don't have anyone to help with finances,
There's a distinct lack of men at tea dances?

So your mind goes blank, there is no answer,
You can't conjure up a necromancer,
The memories fade over the years,
You can't see his face, why are you in tears?

And so I'm just feeling so bereft,
I know he's gone, I know he's left
It's hard when he's left you in the lurch,
And no-one can help you, not even your church.

So the answer is, just carry on,
Adapt and survive now he has gone.
Someday, somehow just cling to the hope
That through it all, you can still cope.
