Why This... Poem by Majid Gaggi

Why This...

Why this injustice and inequality?
Are not we human beings in this world?
Just like everyone else in it?
If so, why all this suffering and pain?
We suffer and suffer a lot
As our parents and grandparents suffered before
Is it written on these people to suffer so?
For years, decades and centuries
Expelled from their homeland
Lost their money, properties and jobs
Just running for their lives
They ran barefoot with only clothes on their back
All this happened before the eyes of the world
Who proclaims and advocates days and nights
For human rights, equality and justice
Without lifting a finger to help these people
Or even batting an eye about this calamity
Affecting this peaceful unarmed nation
Where are your human rights, freedom and peace?
Humans crammed into tents, caravans
And incomplete structural buildings
Forced to leave their houses, cities, and jobs
Is this was what you advocate for?
Shame and shame on you
You who proclaim with words but no action
We see and hear meetings and conferences
From time to time, here and there
And we don't see or feel tangible change
We hear so many freedom and equality trumpets blast and we see no change for the better
My God when will this tragedy end?
And these people see peace?
In living like the rest of humanity in freedom and dignity at their forefathers land?
