Why Remember? Poem by Sujay Sam

Why Remember?

Why do you want to remember?
That you've chosen to forget?
It's not your Joy I Intend to hinder;
It's just that I wished you'd live without regret.

Why do you want to remember?
That you've chosen to forget?
As the remiss and stare at ceaseless wonder;
You can't be alive if you want to resurrect.

Why do you want to remember?
That you've chosen to forget?
For their shadows lay still yet grow longer;
Unperturbed by the prospect of being a reject.

Why do you want to remember?
That you've chosen to forget?
When you can choose a life of perfect luster;
And you'll never make it just for the sunsets.

Why do you want to remember?
That you've chosen to forget?
You can't redeem anytime looking back in regret;
But let it go, let it go, for the hardest part is over.

Why do you want to remember?
That you've chosen to forget?
The guilt of the past cannot be carried as debt;
Wash your hands and walk in perfect splendour.

For in my eyes, you are always a loved one.
For your life so wonderful and your past undone;
So don't try to remember that you've forgotten.
For you are meant to be alive and never broken.
