Why Did You Write? Poem by RIC BASTASA

Why Did You Write?

was it because you have nothing to do?
you have written quite long and so many.
is it because there is something wrong?
could you be wrong for a long lifetime?
is it because you want to tell something
and yet you cannot tell it to a friend or
even to yourself? you want these things
hidden and they shout for their names.
you compromise between darkness and light.
between here and there, between you and
them. you write and you keep on writing
something is revealed yet no one knew.
you dared to draw the map that leads them
all there back to you, but they never knew.
you say, the gold bars are buried here
you are standing right on where they are.
you write and they never hear, you write
and they never mind, you know now but they
will never will. Thanks to poetry.
