I hide in wonder as it all passes by
My lips form words but I can only sigh
This place seems so cruel, but I wish I’d fit in
Why do I long for this world full of sin?

There’s darkness around me (rudeness applied)
And people I love shall soon enough die,
So why do I long for this world full of sorrow?
With so little light and small truth to borrow?

Does simple need placate me just enough
So I decide to stay when the going gets tough?
The world that awaits me, so full of stone,
Warm enough to comfort me when I am alone?

Overcomes a greed
I can only wonder why
