Who? Poem by Guppie Stokes

Who?

Rating: 4.0

Love is not an act
Nor is it simply a feeling.
It is many things
Crammed into four letters.
The word 'love' is twisted,
stretched, and overused
to stand for:
Like, sex, materialism.
It can chain or free.
But love is really a lifestyle,
a legacy, a calling,
A command.
Love is the ONLY thing keeping the
human race alive.
Love is what brought us
into being.
Love is who you must find
to live forever.

I really like this poem, Barni. You have some very good metaphors. I really like the line, 'love is really a lifestyle.' I also like the line, 'love is who you must find.' I never really thought of love as a lifestyle before, but your comparison reminds me of Margaret Atwood's poem. The truth of the poem makes you think, while the reality of it makes you smile. Great.
