Who Are You, Money? Poem by Maurice Abiagom

Who Are You, Money?

Who are you Money?
I ask myself that question everyday
Some describe our love for you as the root of all evil
But, why do everyone want to have you?
Are you really evil or a blessing to man?

Who are you, Money?
College Students work hard in order to have you
Families needs you to surrive
Some deaths are caused by lack of you
Money, What is your Identity in this world?

Are you really evil or good in this world?
I ask myself because of what people do in order to have you
Blood are being shed due to your cause
Stealing and selling of ones body is done in order to have you
Money, how evil you are

But then a voice tells me you are good
You show that hard work truly pays
You make life enjoyable for many families
You make people learn and discover things in order to have you
Money, this voice cries and tell me that you are good

I am confused
Who are you money?
You are neither good or bad
You are just an object that the world needs.
