Whitby Cruise Poem by Albert Ralph

Whitby Cruise

WHITBY CRUISE

Six o’clock Sunday morning,
Falling asleep at the wheel.
I haven’t been straight since Friday evening.
My brain is too numb to feel.
I guess I got wasted, not enough sleep.

Mike and Bill go the girls last night.
Me and Tony were playing pool.
Sun comes up, I’m forty miles from home.
I guess I’m some kind of fool.

Storm clouds hide the sky.
Makes me wanna cry.
Wish I was home in bed.
Wish I could feel my head.
Where am I? Where are you?
Whitby cruise…….Heartsick blues

Radio’s loud to keep us awake,
401 seems so long.
Meil Young comes on, makes me think of you.
So I crank it up, and sing along.

Grey clouds cross my mind.
Your love’s so hard to find.
Do you remember when?
Will I ever see you again?
Whitby cruise……..heartsick blues………
Blowing a fuse……..thinking of you

The miles roll by, still can’t see the sun.
Overcast hides the view.
Weeks spent waiting for the weekend,
Getting stoned to forget about you.
But it does no good….. only makes things worse.

Smoke clouds blind my eyes.
I’ve had enough of getting high.
I’d rather enjoy the view.
I’d rather make love to you.
Whitby cruise. seasick blues…….
Burnt out blues…….Whitby cruise.
