Whispering Leaves Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Whispering Leaves

whispering leaves
trembling yellow
Monuments of the Sere
trumpets of shrill
and clamorous rustling
clanking of steel
passage of armies
beauty in a street
crown of fevers
a sweeping of snow
thin yet dripping
dripping down the trees
tower of iron cast
and of red minarets
palace of mosques
river of royal naming
torches and flames
nocturnal to the subconscious
funereal:
whispering leaves
whispering
whispering
