Whisky Or Nothing Poem by Paul Ogbuigwe

Whisky Or Nothing

There's no friend like whisky
No place like the bar
No travelling companion
matches the hip flask
No heaven like the first gulp after a long day
No home without a minibar
No sleep like a drunken one
Forget me now
Forget everything
But leave me whisky when you go
It is my sensual soma
The only salve for the bruises on my heart
The grease that keeps the gears grinding
What is life without liquor?
Suffering that's what
