Where Is My God? Poem by Mohabeer Beeharry

Where Is My God?

When the wind blows cold and hard
We seek shelter.
When the heart breaks
We seek the love of a friendly shoulder.

When the heart bubbles with joy
And tears of thankfulness fill our eyes
We turn to him who is always here
And near.
And say thank you.

These are not miracles,
These are the fundamental values of man,
The robust seeds of evolution.

Whatever way he takes
Good or evil
Penance or meditation,
Man will finally merge with God,
The final frontier!
Exceptthat some ways are shorter than the others,
And the choice exclusively his.

Avatars and Saints come down to lay out pathways
And guidance.
They do not bind nor impose
And the end is always the same, God!

My God is no better than yours,
He is the same infinite ocean of love and mercy
Man is supposed to learn,
To err is also to learn.

But he who proclaims that his God is better, has floundered
And until and unless this mentality changes
He will grope, disillusioned,
For such a being exists only in a disturbed mind!

The true God is purity,
One without a second
Same to you and to me,
For me and for you!

He has all the qualities,
And any added ones are fictitious.
That God is silence
And can be reached in utter serenity, faith
And purity of the heart.
