When They Mention Your Name Poem by Juan Olivarez

When They Mention Your Name

Rating: 5.0

When they mention your name,
I pretend I don't hear.
I never pass any blame,
But I can't hide my tears.

When they mention your name,
I just look away.
But it's always the same,
If it's night or it's day.

When they mention your name,
I just don't want to talk.
To me it wasn't a game,
And I just take a walk.

But when I close my door,
All I hear is your name.
I start pacing the floor,
And my voice sounds so lame.

A very beautiful but sad write, as most of us can relate. I really love the rhythem of the poem, but wished for a better ending. A great poem by a very powerful writer. Lynn.
