When The Heart Wonders Poem by Momiji Halo

When The Heart Wonders

As I set foot on the oceans line,
I felt a little pitter patter,
Where its coming formed a question,
One such that answers will not satisfy.

In the cold air I had felt more alive,
I felt as if life itself could not hold my curiosities,
Despite the cautions my mind had concocted,
My heart was determined to do the conducting.

I wanted to speed away at that moment,
But, too close, too soon would be disastrous.
So I wait as the waves hit my feet,
Until I grow older, both in age and experience.

My heart wonders slowly today,
But by tomorrow's light,
It will beat with such a heavy tempo,
And dance to the beat I shall.
