When Sadness Comes To Town Poem by Chris Smethurst

When Sadness Comes To Town

What do we do when sadness comes to town?

when the greatest gift
hidden within
deep loving eyes
too soon fades
then is lost
scattered upon
an autumn shadowed rainbow

No shining gold
or tearless end in sight

let heavy hearts
summon light-filled souls
so to guide us back
to a welcome place
a calmer karma
where the great imposter
can never disgrace

till we meet rejoice
and too soon awake from our
delightful delusion of
night and day
