When I Hear Your Name Poem by Brendon Secrist

When I Hear Your Name

Some people say,
When I hear your name,
My eyes sparkle,
And my mind goes to a distant land.

But in my heart I know,
When my eyes sparkle,
They're tears,
When my mind goes to a distant place,
Its the old memories of love and happiness,
Coming to the surface.

I'm tired of hiding,
All my pain,
All my love,
All my hope,
That one day you'll return.

And fill the hole
That hasn't healed.
