When I Am Gone - For Justin Poem by Tracy Galloway

When I Am Gone - For Justin

When I am gone I pray you rest
Fold down the hearth you warmed in me
And sleep with purity and blush
You are dream and I am there
While willows sway in breath we left
The God we loved fulfills my hush
Do not search for me in glass and mist
Or call to me in midnight oil
While the storied stones contract
I left all I was in you
The faint of churchbells chiming
Will not call my marrow back
But hear me in the lungs you heave
And tap a hand upon your chest
To feel my heart in yours my love
My fingers fade but rings we vowed
Keep time in your warm pockets best
So on my pillow lose your tears
Remember when I kissed and blessed
For when the axis tips and wanes
And your blood has left its joyful moan
I will meet you in the field
Wings and wind against our backs
Reach me light with laughter
You will find me there at home
