When Darkness Comes Poem by Rajendra padhi

When Darkness Comes

WHEN DARKNESS COMES

When my eyes puzzle the day and night
A windfall on me from storms of time,
Lonely as a bird in the dark sphere
Slowly coiled in swift changes of wind.

Darkness spurge depleting all dreams
I bend like a tree to rot lying alone,
The boundless hours quickly flow
The mist of my thoughts feebly fades.

How I have bowed to darkness of truth
Breathe out all lies of the days I lived for!
The debris of longings confuses me more
Days have beaten me down to the ground.

The lips of flowers in deeper pain at dusk
Tremble the spine in its edge sickening,
The sun has closed the mouth of dreams
Lost entirely of its fidelity barely seen
The days go by as old like my age for me.

An immense dark in this forest I tread
Fall in pace to be closed within for light,
I woke up to see voice of truth so strong
Leaves stop to fall, the tree is left barren
I vainly circles round the hollow boughs.
