What will it take
for you to see that you never left my heart?
that the space is now filled with
fruitless hopes and dreams
engulfed in ribbons of tears

What will it take
for you to realize, every word
that parts your lips
I listen to with rapt attention?
I carry your sorrows
with the intention of making them my own

What will it take
for you to feel towards me,
the way you once did...?
the way I feel for you forever more
Will it ever be more than a joke?
Was it ever more than a joke?

What will it take
for you to want us to be together?
We use to laugh, smile, and be joyous
What happened?
You may have forgotten
I however will forever be left wondering
What could have been?
