What We Will Call What's Left

I wrote to my brother,
that vestige derives from the Latin for footprint
and trace from trahere, to draw;
that neither will suffice
for what land will be left
once the ice is no more.

I wrote to Derek,
'After Old Norse for a small, rocky island,
let's call what's left The Skerrick.'
