What? To Tell Her... Poem by David Stern

What? To Tell Her...

1.
What? to tell her… Oh! Whatever you like,
Without much eloquence;
Something - of general truths, such as: a day
Is - the globe's full rotation!

2.
That the earth... travels vast countless miles
At a single throb of the pulse -
The ageless poles of the axis creak:
And time - perturbs the space -

3.
That a year... is - the whole Nature's upheaval,
That seasons are... not only
The freezing and thawing of water
And - beating of the heart? … but a moment!

4.
Tell her - all this…
…then move on to weather,
Where is colder? and where warmer?
And add - what? are the fashions this year...
And say nothing more.
