What Is Your Religion? Poem by Apurva Jain

What Is Your Religion?

Rating: 4.5

The Heaven Doors Opened,
And I Stepped In,
A Room Was There,
God Sitting Within,

I Was Enjoying His Presence,
Suddenly, He Put Up A Question,
I Was Amazed When He Asked,
“What Is Your Religion? ”

I Didn’t Realize The Situation,
But Answered His Query,
I said Jainism,
And He Became Angry,

He Left Me Alone,
And Told To Think Over Time,
“I’ll Ask The Question Again” He Said,
When The Clock Strikes Nine!

After He Was Gone,
I Ran Back Into Time,
To Know Where I Went Wrong,
And To Get An Answer Fine,

But I was Terrified To See,
In The Name Of Religion,
The World Was Destroying,
But I Went Deep For A Solution,

I Saw A Curfew In Whole State,
As A Mosque Was Broken Down,
The Place Was Ayodhya,
The So Called Land Of Lord Ram,

I Saw Guns In Golden Temple,
And Many People Being Fired Upon,
Only To Make The City Of Five Rivers, Punjab,
A Land Of Only Sikhs, Named Khalistan,

I Saw Many People In The World,
Telling Their God Great,
One Said Jesus, Other Said Krishna,
And One Said Mecca Is Heaven’s Gate,

They Fought Over Religions,
They Fought Over God,
My Heart Is Aching To See This,
Why They Are Trying To Divide That One Lord,

Then The Clock Struck Nine,
And God Came In,
Seeing My Tears, He Gave A Smile,
For Accomplishment Of His Mission,

He Hugged Me Tight,
For I Realized,
God Is One And In Every Being’s Heart,
So What Is The Reason For His Divide,

The Only Religion Of A Man,
Is To Serve Mankind And Being ‘Human’,
God Didn’t Need Ask Me Again But Let Me Ask You,
“What Is Your Religion? ”

Apurva, You have very well described your viewpoint and raised a thought containing question. I think you have done the job beautifully. Men may have many religions but God has only one religion and that is his oneness.
